PI Salary:
Becoming a private investigator or detective usually means going into business for yourself. Though some start out working for others before branching out on their own.

Being in business for yourself means you can control how much you work. This will determine how much money you can make, especially if you market yourself very well.

According to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the median salary for Private detectives and investigators in 2004 was $32,100. The top 10 percent of PIs made as much as $58,470.

Private Investigator Career School:
While there is no formal education required to become a PI, there can be no doubt a formal education in criminal justice, or law enforcement, or police science will help you carry out your investigations or give your clients more confidence in your abilities.
