Border patrol agent career training is a straightforward process conducted by the United States Border Patrol agency that is a subsidiary of the Department of Homeland Security. The main function that the agents currently conduct is protecting the country against infiltration by drug smugglers, terrorists and illegal immigrants. There is an entrance exam administered by the agency that examines prior work experience, ability to speak Spanish and ability to reason through logic. Applicants must have the minimum academic rank of a bachelor’s or master’s degree to qualify for entry-level jobs at the agency. The ones who have the degrees and some previous work experience tend to have an advantage. The applicants should also have a driver’s license, be American citizens and be under 40 years of age.

A minimum of bachelor degree is required for the most positions of compliance officer. A graduate degree is a plus. A law degree may be required by some institutions for their compliance officers. These officers require some special skills which include organizational skills, communication skills, both verbal and written and computer literacy with experience in word processing and accounting programs. Instructions to select the compliance officer training program:

1. Deciding the interested industry and appropriately identifying the correct training programs. 2. Once the industry is chosen, go to the national association website for that industry. There they have list of compliance job posts and a certification program. 3. Based on the needs and level of experience, select a training program. The training is to be attended only if the information is new. Also keep in mind that there are colleges with good compliance programs. Such colleges will prepare you to become a compliance officer for just about any industry.

Transport security officers are always on the front line in order to protect the transportation networks of air, rail, road and sea. They are entrusted with the duties of protecting transportation system from any terror threat and ensuring that the freedom of both people and commerce are maintained. He/She must be proficient in acting quickly against any threat and at the same time interact with the public in a friendly and helpful way. They are responsible to screen passengers, gather intelligence, coordinate security and look after the government’s transport system related issues in a national emergency. Needless to say, it is a matter of national security where the lives of people and public infrastructure are at stake; hence it is imperative that all the transport security officers undergo a formal training prior to commencing their career in this field. The training would include 50-80 hours of theoretical training, 110 to 120 hours of on job training, certification tests, and traveling for up to two weeks or more. On some occasions you might be scheduled for specialized training and even drug testing is possible. To maintain the highest level of professional character, it’s better to stay away from alcohol, drugs and any kind of steroids. The training schedule is kept very strict and busy, so you might have to work for hours without proper sleep as well. Inadequate or sub standard performance may result in re-certification in your weak areas.

Air marshal career training involves intensive two phase training program conducted for fifteen weeks. The first phase of the training program is carried out at the Federal Law Enforcement Training center in Artesia, New Mexico. It consists of seven weeks of basic law enforcement courses, followed by the training at William J. Hughes Technical Center in New Jersey. The training schedule includes constitutional law, physical fitness, behavioral observation, marksmanship, medical assisting in emergencies, defensive tactics and other techniques of law enforcement. After completing the first phase of training, the second phase of training is done physically in the field to train the candidates for the real tasks. This mode of training helps in growing the marksmanship of the candidates. Students are also exposed to aircraft safety procedures, defensive measures, and advanced tactics for firearm. On successful completion of the two phases of training, candidates are assigned to the missions through one of 21 field offices. Air Marshal's must not only achieve the highest pistol qualification, they must also maintain the highest pistol qualification score among all the enforcement agencies.
